Child Care Training Course Highlight: Fun Snacks with A, C, and I
Course: Fun Snacks With A, C, and I
We have passed through another holiday season filled with the excitement of sights and sounds of festivities accompanied by delicious food & drink, and Oh those delicious desserts and candies! Yum!
Children indulge in all of this good cheer just as much as adults do. And for that reason, as we begin the new year, now is the time to think healthy snacking again; getting the children back on track.
This course is designed to help you to think and to plan healthy snacks that are also appetizing. (Remember, you’re competing with chocolate!)
Here is a brief reminder of what Vitamins A & C and Iron do for the body:
- Vitamin A: Necessary for normal vision, immune function, reproduction*
- Vitamin C: Antioxidant that protects against cell damage, boosts the immune system, forms* collagen in the body
- Iron: Key component of red blood cells and many enzymes*
This course, “Fun Snacks With A, C, and I,” is taught by Lori Rittel; is a beginning level course; and offers two (2) credit hours.

2 New Links
We just added links to Ed2Go, an online resource for short-course training and education! Classes are instructor-led, last only 6 weeks, and can be completed on your own time. We’ve taken them and have found them to be informative and user-friendly. Sessions start every month, so you always have opportunity to start a class!
Great classes to look for include Ready, Set, Read, Guiding Kids on the Internet, and Handling Medical Emergencies.
Both MCC and DCC have Ed2Go pages, and you do NOT have to enroll as a student in the college to take a course!

Community Events at MCC
There are some great community outreach events upcoming at Miles Community College. Visit the calendar at http://milescc.edu/CommunityOutreach/COCalendar/.
Classes include: Educators’ Conference (featuring Real Colors, Understanding and Managing Difficult Behaviors, Current Drug Trends, and more!), Microsoft Word applications (including Windows 7), Photo Story Creation, and Stretch Your Grocery Dollar.
Most of these events are at least 2 hours in length, and the majority of them would certainly impact your child care business and program. If you are interested in attending anything from this calendar, please use the Individual Request Form form from the Early Childhood Project. For the money, these evening courses are certainly great ways to earn some new professional development credits for licensing and/or Practitioner Registry Renewal.
The calendar is also linked on the right.
Please call our office with questions. Happy learning!
